Confession: Too quick to judge

Hey everyone!  At one point in time we have all had an opinion on a topic and that opinion has changed drastically.  Well today I must confess I have changed my opinion on running in the street.

I’m not much of a runner but when I do run I always run on the sidewalk for a few reasons. One being I am afraid of getting hit by a crazy driver who is not paying attention and also because I have always found it slightly annoying when I am driving and there is a person running in the street when there is a perfectly good sidewalk 10 feet to the right of them.

I believe Karma finally caught up with me for being a little annoyed at all of these runners.  I was not even 50 yards away from my house this evening when I tripped on the uneven sidewalk.  I jammed my ankle and lost my balance.  I’m sure I looked like a fool falling all over the place.  However, against my better judgment I decided to run in the road.  Oh my gosh!!  What a different experience!  I was able to run like the wind and not trip on my feet trying to dodge the uneven cement.  I will admit I will always run in the street from now on and I will think twice before I complain about someone running in the road.

We as humans are quick to judge and make an opinion on something we have never tried before.  My advice: always give something a try before you make an opinion.  If your original opinion was wrong admit you may have been too quick to judge.  No one is perfect and we all make mistakes.  Try something new, learn from every experience and have no regrets!

Share a confession in the comments below about a time when you were too quick to judge and what you learned from the experience.  I will do a recap post in a few days and highlight most, if not all of your shared confessions.  Remember you can submit the comments anonymously so no one will know your story.  I’m so excited to read your comments!

I hope you have a safe and enjoyable weekend!  The weather is supposed to be fantastic so get outside and soak up the sun, BUT don’t forget the sunscreen!  And remember, nice girls always finish first!

Hey Nice Girls.  Today’s second post is about the top 10 drugstore products I use every morning.  This includes everything but my makeup and hair straightener.
My Top 10 Products are:

1. Colgate toothbrush in pink: Pink because it is my favorite color.

2. Crest 3D toothpaste: I heard great things about this toothpaste and wanted to give it a try.  The tube says it will remove 80% of surface stains in 2 weeks.  I am almost at the 2 week mark so I will let you know my thoughts.

3. Opti-Free Replenish: I use this every morning to clean my contacts.

4. Equate hand soap: Raspberry scent

Makeup for Glasses Challenge

Hey pretty ladies!

The past few days I have been having a few problems with my eyes.  My contacts kept drying out (I’m sure this is because my contacts are only meant to be worn for no more than 2 weeks but I have had them in for a whopping 3 months!) my eyes have been itchy and watery.  Needless to say it has been miserable to be at work when I am having contact issues. So today I decided to wear my glasses to work.  This was an easy fix!  My eyes feel much better today.

While wearing my glasses gives my eyes a break it also brought along on major problem… how do I do my makeup and wear my glasses?  I normally only wear my glasses at night or on days where I do not wear makeup so I took on the makeup with glasses challenge.  My biggest issue is I hate wearing mascara with my glasses because my eye lashed brush the inside of my glasses and it drives me nuts!  So today I decided against the mascara and attempted a new look.

Today I wore foundation, powder, blush and a highlighter on my face which is what I do every day so no change here.  However for my eyes I lined my eyes with brown eyeliner from Clinique (click here to view the eyeliner I use.  I have the color Chocolate Luster).  I used a light color on my lid and a brown in the crease.  I made my crease color darker than usual so you could see the color through my glasses.  I finished off my look with a neutral lip color from MAC.  I must say with a more intense crease color I did not miss my mascara today.  I know I will be doing this look again in the future.

How do you do your makeup when you have glasses on?  Comment below and share your tips and secrets with me!  Also, let me know if you would like to see a tutorial of the makeup for glasses look that I did today.  I would be happy to film one.  If you’re like me I’m sure you are hoping Mother Nature will stop the rain and bring on the sun shine. I hope tomorrow will be sunny!  Don't forget to check me out on twitter @AANiceGirlBlog and send in your blog requests. Until next time nice girls, be smart, be beautiful, be you and remember, nice girls always finish first!

10 Things I wish I knew in High School

Hello again!

I feel like I have been posting a lot lately! I have been working on this blog post for a few days now because I wanted to make sure I had 10 really good things I wish I had known in high school! This was definitely one of the hardest blogs I have written in a long time. I really hope you enjoy it because I put a lot of time and effort into this one.

So without further ado here are the 10 things I wish I knew in high school:

1. Don’t sweat the small stuff. People will always tease you and make fun of you. It is the drama of high school.

2. Always read the entire book for English class. Your teacher will test you on things not covered in Spark Notes!

3. Your parents are always right.

4. Texting in class is not smart… You will get caught eventually.

5. Your loud music in the parking lot is really not at cool as you think

6. There is no reason to sleep in class or in study hall. I promise you can make it all day without a nap!

7. Get involved in afterschool activities besides athletics. This is a great way to make more friends, be involved within your school community and it looks great on college applications.

8. Get to know your teachers. You never know when you will need a letter of recommendation for college.

9. The ACT is not as scary as it seems. I promise you will still get into college even if you have a low score.

10. Enjoy your crazy high speed metabolism. The freshman 15 is not a myth it happens to the best of us. Learn healthy eating and workout habits before entering college.

I’m positive there are many more things I wish I knew in high school but I thought most people could agree with me on these ones.

I am thinking about making a “Top 10” series. In this series I would make lists like this one about different things. For example, top 10 things I love/ hate about college or top 10 favorite books. Would you be interested in reading my top 10 series? Let me know in the comments below. Also, let me know something you wish you knew in high school! I hope you are having a great weekend! And remember, nice girls always finish first!

Embarrassing Moment- Youth in Asia…Maybe?

Happy sunny Monday nice girls!

I was trying to decide what to blog about and I realized it has been awhile since I did a post that was directly related to me. I want to share an embarrassing moment with all of you. We have all done something at one time or another where we wish we would have just kept our mouth shut or we secretly hope no one was looking when we tripped up the stairs. For me I’ve done all of these things. I probably have more embarrassing moments than the average human. Surprisingly I’m okay with it, I enjoy laughing at myself. One thing before I start my story… you must promise to laugh at me!!

Here we go! In 11th grade in high school my English class just finished writing the dreaded research paper. I did mine on second hand smoking for those who are curious.
After writing the paper and turning it in we had to give a speech to the class.
One day in class a girl who shall remain nameless started talking about the Youth in Asia. She went on and on about how wrong it was and how people need to take a stand.

This girl talked for about 5 minutes and when she was done I turned around to my friend sitting behind me and said “How did anything she said have anything to do with the Youth in Asia?” Of course she laughed at me and said “Brittnee! Not the Youth in Asia…Euthanasia!”

Trust me when I say I was so embarrassed! I could not believe I thought this girl’s entire speech was about the Youth in Asia when it was really about a more serious topic. To this day my mom and I still laugh about this. It’s one of those things I will never live down.

Now it’s your turn. Tell me about one of your embarrassing moments I would love to read them. I’m going to go outside and enjoy the sunshine! I hope you are having a great day! And remember, nice girls always finish first.

Quick Tip: Brow Tweezing

Hey Nice Girls!

Here’s a quick tip for tweezing your eye brows! I hate to tweeze my eye brows for many reasons but the biggest reason is because I can never get it just right. I would rather pay to have mine waxed then tweeze. Although it is not practical for a college student to always pay for an eye brow wax I did some research and thought I would share it with all of you!

1. Choose the right tweezers: Try to find a sharp slanted style.

2. Tweeze Post-Shower: The warm waters helps soften hair and allows them to slip out easier

3.Ease the Ouch: If the thought of plucking is too painful or it is right before your period (when skin is most sensitive) try using a numbing gel (Orajel-baby teething Pain Medicine) to ease the pain.

4. Correct Shape: Your brow should begin at your tear duct, peak in line with the outer side of your iris and end at a point that falls 45 degrees from the outer corner of your eye. Here is an example.

I hope you are all having a fabulous Monday! Let me know if you have any brow tips in the comments below! And remember, nice girls always finish first.

How do you hold your place?

Happy Saturday night nice girls!

I’m getting ready to settle down for the evening and read for a bit. I’m currently reading “The Time-Traveling Fashionista” by Bianca Turetsky. It’s not a bad read however it is a little young for me.

I have been struggling to find a perfect book mark. I hate to fold the corner of the page. I just think it is so rude to the book. If I was a book I would not want someone folding down the corner of one of my pages! Plus it keeps your books looking nicer. I’m usually not picky about what I use to hold my place in a book. I’m known for grabbing an old receipt or even a piece of paper. This past book I read I used one of my Miss Ohio Teen business cards. I thought it was great! It was like a trip down memory lane every time I opened my book. I have been wanting something pretty to hold my place. I’m actually thinking about getting a nice book mark from Things Remembered. I want to get my favorite quote engraved on it. Maybe I’ll splurge sometime soon and just buy it!

My question to you is what do you use to hold your place in a book? Do you use something like an old piece of paper or do you use something unique and special to you?

Also, what are you currently reading? I only have one book left to read after the one I’m currently reading so I am on the lookout for a new one.

I hope you are enjoying your weekend and I will talk to you next time. And remember, nice girls always finish first.

Summer Reminders

Hey Nice Girls!

I hope you have been enjoying this great weather! I think one of my favorite parts about the summer is waking up to the sun shining outside. Since it has been extremely hot out lately I thought I would offer a few summer reminders!

Remember to always wear sunscreen. No one likes to have a sunburn!

Drink plenty of water.

Don’t forget bug spray when you are outside late at night. I hate bugs! I try to avoid them at all costs.

Lay by the pool as much as you can! I wish I was at the pool right now, but instead I am at work on my lunch break.

My number one piece of advice is to always take an allergy pill before you go outside. I have allergies and there is nothing worse than sneezing, having a runny nose and also having itchy eyes while trying to enjoy this great weather.

What are your summer tips? Let me know in the comments below. Also, are you interested in a vlog? I have a few people asking for them and would like your feedback. I hope you are having a great day!!

And remember, nice girls always finish first!

Blog Request: The awful face mountains... aka The Pimple

Hey Nice Girls!

Blog requests are my favorite type of posts to write because I am able to write about the topics you are interested in reading about. A few days ago I received a question about what I do when I wake up in the morning look in the mirror and see a nice, new red pimple on my face.

There is nothing worse than getting a new pimple. Like any girl I freak out, become irritated and hope it will go away. I try to take care of the issue without causing too much damage to my face. I try to avoid extracting because it causes the pimple to become irritated and red. If I am going somewhere I will try and cover it up with concealer and then apply my foundation. I have discovered the best way to get rid of the pimple the quickest is to let it play its course. Don't touch it, don't pop it.... leave it alone!!

Although it is hard to get rid of a new pimple and cover it up for a big event try these few tips as they may help you:

**If you are looking to get rid of the redness try using Clear Eyes for Red Eyes eye drops. I know this seems funny, but it you leave the eye drop on the area for about 10 minutes the redness will decrease.

**You can also try placing a small amount of face mask to the area and covering it with a band aid over night. When I used Proactive I would use the Proactive mask, cover it with a small band aid and go to sleep. The next day the pimple was either gone or the size and redness had decreased dramatically.

There are many ways you can proactively avoid pimples:
- Wash your face every morning
- Wash your makeup off at night
- Clean your makeup brushes once a week
- Don't use your fingers to apply foundation. Try using a sponge.
- If you use sponges to apply makeup only use them once because they will store bacteria.
- Try to touch your face as little as possible during the day.

Thanks for the blog requests Nice Girls!! If you leave a request and put your name at the end I will respond by writing the blog directly to you. Also, feel free to leave your name on the comments so I can write directly back to you.
