What have I been up to?

Hey Nice girls!

Summer is just 5 finals away! I can’t wait to be home for the summer. I want to take this time to give a Reader’s Digest version of what I have been up to.

These past few weeks have been crazy, hence the limited number of blogs I have posted. Last week I was diligently working away at a huge project for my marketing class that was due last Thursday. Wednesday night my professor sent out a friendly email reminding the class that the project was due the next day. Well… after working so hard to complete my project I received another email Thursday morning. My professor said he had the due dates mixed up and the project was not due for another week. Just saying I was irritated is an understatement. After I realized I no longer had to worry about the project I smiled and got over my “project due date issue”.

This past weekend I made a trip home to spend a relaxing weekend with my parents. If helping out around the house is considered relaxing then cleaning and laundry is the cheapest stress reliever on the market. It was so nice to go home and sleep in my own bed. Before I ventured home I put a feeder block in my fish tank. I placed a 10 day feeder block in the tank for Bubba (my fish). Well the block is meant for 5 -6 fish for 10 days. Oops! I think poor Bubba has a tummy ache! Keeping my fingers crossed that he will be ok.

I am also very excited to announce that I have been being a good girl with school work. I have started to prep for finals way earlier than I normally would. Here is the biggest question I have. Why do professors give tests the week before the final exam? I feel like the test is a waste of paper. I mean the same material will be on the final anyway, so why test me twice? That’s just some food for thought for the night.

Most people know I am going to be an RA next year. I was thrilled to find out I was placed in the dorm of my choice. I have been patiently waiting to find out my room assignment. I was hoping for a large RA room, but it didn’t work out that way. I have a small room. I am going to have to scale down on everything I bring back to college in the fall. I guess the plus side is that my dad won’t have to carry in as much. Hehe.

Well this is all for my rambling blog about absolutely nothing. Feel free to comment below and let me know what you think about the professors testing the class on last minute material that will also be on the final.

Have a great rest of the week and remember, nice girls always finish first.

What exactly is a nice girl?

Hey nice girls!

When I started blogging, I mentioned I was inspired to share my thoughts after someone condemned me for being too nice. Too nice? What does that mean? How can you be too nice? I think there are way too many un-nice people out there. I know un-nice is not a word but mean does not necessarily describe what I’m talking about. Some people are just un-nice. It’s not that they are mean, but they aren’t nice either. Hence, my new word un-nice.

To really understand what it means to be un-nice, you first need to understand what it means to be a nice girl. A nice girl is caring. She is kind and she is hopeful. A nice girl never looks down upon another person. Instead, she looks up to them. A nice girl continues to grow within herself to become a better person. She challenges herself daily to be the best she can possibly be. A nice girl is someone you can count on. She will never let you down or disappoint you. A nice girl will surprise others with her integrity and dignity. A nice girl is a best friend.

In my experience, there are not nearly enough nice girls out there. Some girls are judgmental and don’t seem to care how their words or actions make others feel. I think it is important to realize that different does not mean bad or wrong. Our differences are what make us unique and special. Just because a girl doesn’t wear the latest fashions does not mean she is any less important than the girl who has clothes from all the top designers. Just because a girl chooses to participate in an activity different from another doesn’t mean that girl is not worthy of kindness. Too many times people are quick to pass judgment on someone just because she is different. The next time you are faced with a situation like that, I ask you to seriously consider your thoughts. Are you being fair? Are you being nice? Or are you being un-nice and judgmental? If you are honest with your own thoughts, you may be surprised by your answer.

I think there needs to be a lot more compassion out there. Nice girls, please have compassion for other people, even those you don’t know. Everyone deserves kindness and compassion. I’ve seen too many instances lately where girls are judgmental, un-nice and uncaring just because someone or something is different. A bit of compassion and kindness can really make a difference for someone. Try it. Go out of your way to extend a little kindness today.

I don’t mean to lecture nice girls. I’m just hoping my words inspire you to evaluate how you interact with others. If there’s room for improvement, make a change!

Please comment below about what you think a nice girl is, or share an experience where you decided to be a nice girl instead of being an un-nice girl.

Remember, nice girls always finish first.

Improvements

Hey nice girls!

What do you think of when the word improvement comes to mind? Do you think of school, relationships, or personal improvements? Today as I was trying to practice my patience the word improvement popped into my mind. For those who know me, you know I can sometimes be, well… very impatient. This is not something I am entirely proud of. To be honest, it is definitely something I am going to continue to work on.

I thought it would be fun to pick 5 things that I would like to improve over the next few months. I would love for everyone to comment back and tell me a few things you would like to improve on. I think this would be a great summer project for everyone! There is always something we nice girls can improve on. So come on! Take an honest look at yourself, inside and out. Together, let’s try to make improvements one step at a time.

My top 5 improvements:

1. Patience. As I mentioned above, I have a tendency to be impatient. It is my goal over the next few months to step back from a situation, take a deep breath and remember being impatient will get me nowhere. This will be the hardest improvement for me but I am up for the challenge.

2. Sleep. As a college student I love to sleep and sleep and sleep. I wish I could wake up earlier and enjoy my day to the fullest. While I love to sleep in until 10 or even 11 in the morning, it wastes precious time. I am going to face my sleeping habits and correct them! I want the opportunity to have more productive hours during the day.

3. Healthy eating. I may be a nice girl, but I love my junk food! I want to add more fruit and veggies into my daily diet. Being healthy and staying fit are important to me. My goal is to reach for an apple the next time I have the munchies. For all of you nice girls going to college in the fall, starting a healthy diet before you get to school will help you avoid the infamous freshman fifteen. Be healthy - take on the apple challenge.

4. Fresh Air. I love to be outside during the summer, but I also love the air conditioning. I want to spend more time outside this summer enjoying the sunshine (wearing a great SFP of course). Fresh air is good for you. I really don’t think I need to sit inside all day and watch TV. I could be enjoying the sunshine with a cold glass of lemonade and a great book. Next time I reach for the remote I’ll reach for a great book instead and head outside.

5. Procrastination. I am the number 1 fan of procrastination. I tend to do class work last minute. Especially when it comes to writing papers. I do have a tendency to say I do my best work at the last minute which sometimes might be true, but it stresses me out. It is too late this semester to work on my procrastination with class work, but in the fall I plan to be on top of my assignments and get them done early enough to not have to worry about them at the last minute. I know this will be a huge challenge for me but… BRING IT ON!

Try and come up with a few things you would like to improve on. I know it can be hard to think of some, but I know you can do it.

Have an awesome Friday and a wonderful weekend! And remember, nice girls always finish first.

Prepping

Hey nice girls!

Due to the fact that I feel like I am slacking in the blog department, I have decided to write a random blog for today.

So last night after a much needed workout, I feel asleep at 7pm and woke up 2 hours later. Oops! Thanks to my nap, I had a very hard time trying to fall asleep last night. As I was lying in bed an awesome idea popped into my head. Although you may have thought of this before I wanted to share what dawned on me.

As I have mentioned before, classes are starting to come to an end which mean finals are right around the corner. Yikes! I am not one who enjoys studying so for the next 3 ½ weeks I will be prepping for finals instead of “studying”. In my mind, prepping for finals sounds much more appealing then studying for finals. Let’s face it. Studying is, well, sometimes a drag. But prepping is much more sophisticated and intriguing. Don’t ya think?!

Try putting a mental twist on things the next time you are faced with a less than appealing task. It’s a silly way to have fun with your responsibilities.

I hope you are having a fabulous Wednesday! Remember nice girls always finish first.

Project 10

Hey nice girls!

Where have I been? I feel like I have been slacking on my blogs. I have been wracking my brain for awhile to come up with a new fabulous blog for you…a fabulog (lol).

I am so excited that classes are starting to come to an end. I cannot wait to pack everything up and head home for the summer! I am really hoping there is a beach vacation in my near future. Summer is my favorite time of the year and I cannot wait to cuddle up with a great book outside in the sunshine.

Some of you may be familiar with Project Ten Pan, which is a makeup project where you pick out 10 products that are close to being completely used up. You put yourself on a makeup buying ban! Until the 10 products are completely gone, you buy no new makeup products. I honestly don’t think I could go without buying new makeup products because I love to use new things. So…I have created my own twist to this fabulous project.

I am starting Project 10 Book when I go home for the summer. I have a really bad habit of going to the book store and walking out with an armful of new books when I still have a great collection of books that have not been read. This summer I am going to start working through my incomplete book collection. I will not buy any new books until I have read at least 10 books from my own collection.

I think this is a great opportunity to also give back to my community. After completing the books I plan to save the ones I will want to read again and donate the rest. National American Miss has a great community involvement activity where the competing girls bring new and gently used books. Although I will not be competing this year I plan to come and show my support to all of my pageant friends. I am going to bring my gently used books and continue to donate to this great cause.

I challenge you to make a project of your own this summer. Weather it be Project 10 Pan, Project 10 Book or maybe Project 10 Involvement (making a goal to volunteer at least 10 times over the summer) or even your own unique Project 10. Please leave me a comment and share your summer mission. I believe this is a great way to not only be productive and creative this summer but to also enjoy the great things you have in your life.

On another note, as school and classes are starting to come to an end, remember to stay caught up on everything. It will make your life a lot easier on you when finals roll around. Try to find a stress reliving activity to help you relax and get excited about SUMMER VACATION!

And remember, nice girls always finish first!

March Favorites

Hey everyone!

I have been waiting impatiently all month to release my March Favorites blog. All month long I have been trying new products and writing down new things I have fallen in love with. I would love for you to comment and share your favorites with me and the rest of the Nice Girl followers. I am not promoting any of the products I have used; I am just sharing my opinion of them.

Elizabeth Arden Tinted Moisturizer in medium. I fell in love with this product the first time I used it. It’s a great 3-step system in one product. Think of the time and money you will save using a product that provides moisturizer, SPF and foundation all in one step. I am a girl that needs full coverage makeup on my face but foundation can be too heavy and can come off looking like it is caked on. Regular sunscreen can be too oily and I look like an oil slick if I use moisturizer and sunscreen both. Elizabeth Arden Tinted Moisturizer is a great way to have full coverage but still look natural and light. The coverage is perfect. And since I don’t have to apply separate sunscreen and moisturizer, I’m out the door in no time with no shine. Give a tinted moisturizer a try and let me know what you think!

Loreal Telescopic Mascara. Once I find mascara that works for me I never switch, but I recently decided to give this mascara a try. I’m so glad I did. I absolutely love it! The brush is just the right size to get every lash and it gives me great long, full lashes. Consider this product if you need mascara that gives length and fullness. Don’t bat an eye. Give this mascara a try!!

Niva lip balm with 4 SPF. This is my all-time favorite lip balm. I put it on at night and wake up in the morning with smooth pretty lips! A nice girl should always have lip balm in her bag! I use it throughout the day whenever I need a little moisture. The SPF is a great bonus because we need to protect our lips from the sun’s harmful rays too. Give it a try! I know you will love it as much as I do!

If you are like me, you torture your hair to get a great look. I use a hairdryer and straightener on a regular basis so I think it is important to protect my hair from heat damage. I’ve been using Silk Elements- Mega Silk, Olive Heat Protection Spray with great results. I use this product before I dry my hair. After my hair is completely dry my hair feels silky smooth. It’s important to keep your hair protected from styling damage. Give this product a try.

I love to shop for accessories at Forever 21. They have a great selection at super low prices. My latest find is a fabulous rhinestone bow ring. I love it! It adds a bit of flare to my outfit and completes my look. Bows are on everything this season. Look for rings, headbands, barrettes and hats sporting this cute detail.

I have been on a workout kick lately and it is because of Jillian Michaels. I really don’t enjoy going to the gym anymore. Walking to the rec here on campus and then changing and then waiting for equipment does nothing to motivate me. Jillian on the other hand is very motivating. She makes you want to work out if you can believe that! I bought the Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred DVD and I am in love with it! The workouts are fun, quick and really get me going. I highly recommend the 30 day Shred! I’m seeing results already and I’m not even through the first 30 days yet.

I love my Blackberry Curve! What an amazing phone! I love being able to have my email sent straight to my phone. And there are so many apps to choose from. I haven’t even discovered the complete functionality of the phone yet. I think it will do everything short of my economics homework! If you are eligible for an upgrade try a Blackberry!

I feel like it has been so long since I have posted a blog. I have been trying to keep up with mounds of homework as well as my practice schedule. I am taking a mental vacation for the next 24 hours and decided it was a great time to write a new blog! I really hope you enjoy reading my March favorites. Please comment and let me know about your new favorite products. I hope everyone has a great Easter, and be on the lookout for my next blog! I promise it will be coming soon!

And remember, nice girls always finish first!
