Beauty Resolutions- Check in

Hey all!

I hope you are all having a fantastic weekend and you are finding time to relax in your busy schedule.  I needed a break from BW this weekend so I headed home for Friday and half of Saturday.  Friday I went to a high school boys’ basketball game with my dad and on Saturday my mom and I did some shopping for necessities before she heads to Tampa today.

On another note, I cannot even begin to believe that February 1st is on Wednesday.  Where does time go anymore?  Anyway since it has almost been 30 days I want to give you an up-date on my beauty resolutions!

I will admit I have struggled a little bit but I have managed to be successful for the most part.  When it comes to taking my makeup off at night I have been doing really well.  I take my showers at night so this makes it easy to make sure I have a clean face before turning in.  On the nights when I have been too tired to walk down the hall to wash my face I use a makeup wipe to get the foundation off my face.  There have been many nights where I will go to bed with mascara on but I really don’t think that affects my skin.

Additionally, I have been using my Clarisonic every day.  I must say though the first two weeks were the hardest to keep up with it because this is when the Clarisonic is pulling all of the crud out of your skin.  Needless to say I had multiple breakouts during weeks one and two.  However, because I have been able to stick with it, I have seen a huge difference in my complexion.  I have also been able to go to the gym with a clean face.  Although it is embarrassing to admit I have only hit the gym a few times this month.  Sometimes I forget how hard it is to get back into the routine of working out.  So for the next 30 days I will continue to find motivation to work out so I am able to walk across the stage at graduation the same size I was when I first set foot on campus back in 2009.

I have also been able to cut down on my junk food intake.  I will admit I will indulge in something tasty every now and again, but for the most part I have done well on this.

So from now until the end of February I will continue to keep up my beauty resolutions, and hopefully I will make it to the gym a few more times than I have this past month.  Remember to evaluate your resolutions to see how far you have come and if you need to make any adjustments.  I hope you are able to make these last few days in January the best yet.  Until next time, Be fierce, Be fabulous, Be you and remember, nice girls always finish first

Much love,

January Favorites

Hey Nice Girls!

One of the most requested posts I receive is to continue my monthly favorites.  I have been making a list all month of the products and other things I want to include in this month's edition of my favorites.  I usually tend to forget what I want to include if I don't make a list, so I am keeping my fingers crossed that I will not forget anything.

They are stack together,
making is harder for
you to loose one of them!
First on my list is the Blistex Revive and Restore lip balm.  This product comes with two containers.  The first is Blistex Revive.  Revive is a lip protectant with SPF 15 and is to be used during the day.  It has a minty feeling on the lip.  It almost reminds me of the Burt's Bees lip balms if you've ever tried those.  The other container is Blistex Restore.  Restore is only a lip protectant that contains vitamin E and is to be used before you go to bed.  It has a light scent and is a thicker lip balm.  I absolutely love this lip balm duo.  I have seen a huge difference in my lips during this winter (or Spring season... which ever it is Ohio these days).  My lips are no longer chapped and they are always smooth and healthy.  I definitely recommend this product to all of you and I will repurchase it when I run out.

Next is an app on my iPhone.  I am absolutely in love with "Snappers".  Snappers is a puzzle and the goal is to clear all of the little Snappers from the screen.  Pop the red ones, touch the green ones, touch the yellow ones and touch the blue ones.  It is a fun game that really challenges your mind to figure out the strategy to clear the screen.  If you are looking for something to keep you entertained through one of your more boring classes, I highly recommend this.  (However, I am not supporting anyone not paying attention... hahaha)

I have to give a shout out to my favorite online radio show: Under Review.  Please check out this blog post about their online show on Tuesday's and Wednesday's.  I had a blast being a co-host on Tuesday night and cannot wait until next time!  Be sure to check Dillon and JP out next week for another fabulous show!  Also, for all of you nice guys out there reading, check out their Wednesday night Sports show!!

Recently I purchased a these cute wine glasses to put on display in my room at BW.  I was shopping at Hallmark for the glasses because they are one of the only places that carry the Lolita glasses.  As I was shopping for the glasses I noticed that there was a sale 2 for $20, whereas one is $25.  Of course I took the 2 for $20.  However, I forgot to notice that they glasses were actually plastic glasses until I already had them back in my room.  I did decide though that they were too cute to take back so I now just pretend that they are glass.  Haha!!  Anyways, they add a pop of fun and personality to my front room and besides the fact that they are plastic, I love them!

I hope you are making the most out of your week!  Feel free to leave a comment below with your January Favorites.  Be fierce, be fabulous, be you and remember, nice girls always finish first.

Feel the burn!

Hey Nice Girls!

This is what the calendar looks like!
My shoe tape dispenser made a
guest appearance in the photo!
I hope you are having a great start to your weekend!  During the holiday season I received a day by day calendar as a combined birthday/ Christmas gift from a friend.  The calendar is cute, girly and a perfect fit for me seeing that it is "The Shopaholic's Daily Calendar" for 2012.  The calendar includes a daily fact, quote or something funny about shopping.  It definitely keeps me laughing.  Yesterday's topic was fantastic and I just have to share it with all of you shoppers out there.

This is what the page said:
" It's not just your budget that gets whittled away when you shop-- turns out your waistline does, too.  According to a story in the Daily Mail, the average woman can burn up to 48,000 calories a year during retail therapy!  Here's the math, according to a study published by Skinny Cow low-fat deserts: Women make an average of 132 shopping trips each year, for a grand total of 159 hours and 56 minutes of brisk browsing.  They burn about 5 calories per minute, according to researchers, for a total of 47,700 calories over a twelve-month period." - glamour.com

ISN'T THAT FABULOUS TO HEAR!!

If i can burn that many calories shopping I'm going to start hitting up the mall a lot more then I do now.  So ladies, the next time you need a little retail therapy, need new shoes just because or really need a new outfit for the office just tell your boyfriend, husband or significant other that you are going to work out for a few hours.  They will never know the difference!  Just remember to hide that credit card bill! :)

I thought this was a fun blog to post.  If you would like more funny tips from my calendar let me know and I will be more then happy to post a few every now and again.  Stay tuned for more blogs!

Get out there and get your workout (mall) on!

Guest Post: Meanderings by a Meandering Mind

Hey Nice girls!  Here is another guest post from my mom!  Enjoy! <3

This is an unusual day.  It’s the last day I will do the routine that has become, well, routine for nearly the last eight years.  It is the last day I will spend 8 hours among these walls that have come to know me so well.  It is the last day I will hang my coat on that hook.  It is the last day I will sit in this uncomfortable chair.  It is the last day I will walk on these floors that have supported me on my journeys to the lunch room, the postage meter or to that front desk.

Yes, it is my last day at my job.  The job that I have given so much to over the years.  The job that became difficult to separate from the rest of who I am.  The job that I have learned so much from.  The job that has led to my next great adventure.

I leave with a great sense of relief and accomplishment.  I have taken this practice to a place few others could.  Literally.  I say that not out of conceit but because it is a fact.  Few people in my profession have reached this level of implementation of governmental regulations because the topic is so very new.  I’ve not done anything spectacular really.  I just did it sooner than most people.  The rest will come along fine in time.

So what have I learned by enduring this situation?  You may have asked that had you known there was a situation to be endured.  I have learned to always take a stand.  Never doubt what you think is right.  Always keep your head high.  And most importantly, always have a zinger ready for the end.
