Mini Book Haul, Doorbells and Norwalk!

Hey Nice Girls!

I’m sure I can speak for us all when I say how great it is to see the sun shining in the morning when we wake up. I can’t wait for this fabulous weather to continue! My favorite part of summer is being able to kick back with a great book and a glass of cold lemonade so of course I’ve hit the book store a few times this past week. I needed a little mini book haul to get me through the first few weeks of summer. I purchased three books: Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher, The time traveling fashionista by Bianca Turetsky and The Ninth Wife by Amy Stolls. I’m really excited to start reading my new books. I’m going to start with The time traveling fashionista because it looks like a quick read. This book also has cute pictures every now and again that are very girly. I’ll let you know what I think of each book after I finish them. Let me know if you have any good book recommendations. I’m always looking to lose myself in a new book.

Also, this morning I was fast asleep enjoying a good dream about spending the day at the beach. Out of nowhere the doorbell starts ringing a million times. My reaction is I hope they (my parents) are locked out of the house for waking me up with the doorbell! HAHA! Of course it was my dad who decided it would be a great idea to see if he could wake me up with the bell… let me tell you it worked! Up out of bed I jumped and down the stairs I went. To my surprise my parents were just relaxing on the front porch laughing when I opened the front door. Oh well my mom and I ended up shopping so I was okay with the doorbell incident!

Tomorrow I am spending the day with my dad at Buick Day at Norwalk. If you were not already aware I am a car girl and love the drag strip! I’m looking forward to some great father daughter bonding time.

I challenge you to… SMILE

Hey Nice Girls!

I’m lying in bed on a Saturday night… I know I’m lame and I decided to share a challenge with you. While I was in Missouri in February my advisor challenged my group to smile at 20 people a day. So I thought to myself… 20 people, 20 smiles, I can do that no problem! Of course there was a catch to this challenge but I did not realize the catch until I started smiling at people.

The catch is not everyone acknowledges you or your smile. Some people look at you and when you smile they quickly look away, look down at the ground or pretend they never saw you. The first few times people ignored me and my smile I was crushed. I couldn’t believe people were doing that. Well this made the challenge even better. I made it my goal to make sure I was able to make people smile that day. You learn from the first few snubs and keep on smiling. It was a lot of fun and it made me feel good doing it.

My proposal to you is to SMILE at everyone. Make it your personal goal to smile at 20 people a day. If it’s a good day, smile at more than 20 people.
A smile never hurt anyone. It will only make your day and the other person’s day a lot better. What do you have to lose? Give it a shot and leave me a comment about how it went!

Start smiling! And remember, nice girls always finish first!

Small Gesture. Big Heart.

Hey Nice Girls!

I apologize for being MIA for the past few months. This spring semester was a crazy one. No worries though I am back and ready to blog the summer away. I plan on blogging about where I’ve been and what I’ve been up too lately but yesterday I witnessed something and I think it deserves a blog post.

Today while I was at work there was a blind man walking on the road in front of the store. He was walking in circles, up one side of the street and then down the other. Out of nowhere it started to rain. It was pouring shoes and purses (cats and dogs! I thought it was clever). My heart melted for this guy. I knew I had to do something but as soon as my boss, co-worker and I were ready to go help the man, an SUV pulls up next to the man and offers him a ride. The women pulled off with the man in the car to take him home. I could not believe my eyes. There are not many people in this world today that would have stopped to help that man but kudos to the lady that did.

You should always remember to help others because you never know when you will need a hand. Be polite, be caring, be loving, be thoughtful, be respectful and most of all be helpful. There is nothing wrong with lending a helping hand or doing a good deed that will go unnoticed.

There are more blogs to come. I just didn’t have the heart to let this good deed go unnoticed. Comment with blog requests and ideas! I’m going to try and get to as many of them as I can.

Remember, nice girls always finish first.
