Last Summer by Hailey Abbott- REVIEW

Summary-

The entire extended Tuttle family spends each and every summer at Pebble Beach in Maine. The story focuses on the main characters Beth, Kelsi, Ella and Jamie who are all cousins. Kelsi and Ella are sisters who have always shared a room on their summer vacation until this summer when Kelsi brings home her college roommate. Beth is struggling to become friends with her ex-boyfriend. When Beth finally meets a new guy her ex George starts to cause small problems. Jamie has a huge secret she refuses to tell anyone until the end of the book. The secret is one you did not see coming.

The story begins at Beth Tuttle’s high school graduation. Read to find out what happens during that Last Summer.

I loved this book from the moment I picked it up. This book is a very fast read. I started on Friday May 7^th and finished May 10^th. I did however read most of it on the 10^th. Abbott’s writing allows you to picture each character and every scene in the book. The imagery is great! Each chapter talks about each character separately. For example chapter 1 is about Beth, chapter 2 is about Kelsi and chapter 3 is about Ella. This pattern continues through the whole book. Even though the chapters are put together like this each and every chapter brings all the characters together.

This book is part of a series. After reading this one I wish I would have started at the beginning of the series. If you are interested the series goes in this order,

2. Next Summer: A Summer Boys Novel

3. After Summer: A Summer Boys Novel

4. Last Summer: A Summer Boys Novel

Altogether I think this book is a great way to start out the summer! I really enjoyed this book. It was hard to put down.
