I challenge you to… SMILE

Hey Nice Girls!

I’m lying in bed on a Saturday night… I know I’m lame and I decided to share a challenge with you. While I was in Missouri in February my advisor challenged my group to smile at 20 people a day. So I thought to myself… 20 people, 20 smiles, I can do that no problem! Of course there was a catch to this challenge but I did not realize the catch until I started smiling at people.

The catch is not everyone acknowledges you or your smile. Some people look at you and when you smile they quickly look away, look down at the ground or pretend they never saw you. The first few times people ignored me and my smile I was crushed. I couldn’t believe people were doing that. Well this made the challenge even better. I made it my goal to make sure I was able to make people smile that day. You learn from the first few snubs and keep on smiling. It was a lot of fun and it made me feel good doing it.

My proposal to you is to SMILE at everyone. Make it your personal goal to smile at 20 people a day. If it’s a good day, smile at more than 20 people.
A smile never hurt anyone. It will only make your day and the other person’s day a lot better. What do you have to lose? Give it a shot and leave me a comment about how it went!

Start smiling! And remember, nice girls always finish first!

Dear BrittneeNoel,
You're right. This is a difficult challenge. Today, I only smiled at 18 people. But I won't let that get me down. Tomorrow, I'm going to make it my goal to smile at 21 people.
You truly inspire me. I loved your story about the blind man. It brings me back to Christmas when you helped out the children with toys.
I can't wait to hear more about your summer.
Sincerely,
A fellow nice girl
